In 2009 a competition was held for the renewal of the old village centre of Perlesreut, replacing the old market fountain with a new model. The design of the artist Josef Sailstorfer was then implemented.
The fountain of solid Tittling Fine Grain is divided into 12 chambers with their own water supply. During the day it impresses with its smooth as glass surface, in the evening the water storms in the individual chambers with differing force and is illuminated in colour.
"I wanted to retain the form of a trough where the animals were watered in past centuries, and still give the idea of a village trough a new meaning."
Josef Sailstorfer
