A granite sphere weighing tons in motion? Stacked metre-high stone objects, balancing on a paper-thin film of water? It looks like magic. And there is actually a trick involved: thinking outside the box. In the 1980s, Kusser developed the first floating sphere fountains in which solid granite spheres rotate freely on a water film that is just few tenths of a millimetre thick. The patent was the foundation stone of our capacity for innovation: Since then, thousands of floating sphere fountains of different diameters, different colours and with different geo-textures have been installed across the globe, from the local market square, to the Kennedy Space Center.

Benefits
Solid granite
Shape and colour that remain unchanged over decades, without any need for coatings. Even when exposed to harsh weather and continuous water effects, granite retains its original aesthetics thanks to its natural hardness and UV resistance.
Resistant to frost and chemicals
Thanks to its very low absorption of water, granite is exceptionally resistant to frost, salt, and cleaning chemicals. This is particularly the case in public fountain systems, in which chlorine is often used as a disinfectant to reliably suppress the growth of bacteria, algae, and other microorganisms.
Variety of materials
Granite is easily combinable with a wide range of other natural stones, or stainless steel elements and offers countless design options thanks to the wide range of colours, textures, and countless creative possibilities.
Low pumping capacity
In spite of tonnes of stone, an ingenious system means that only a relatively small pumping capacity is needed - ideal for continuous operation.
One-stop supplier
A floating sphere fountain begins with a concept, yet doesn’t end with the sphere. At Kusser the entire system is sourced in-house: from the water circuit through to the filter system and control technology. Our planning is precise, we coordinate the installation and ensure that every component works together. This is how we ensure that our installations work reliably - continuously and irrespective of location.
Accuracy down to tenths of millimetres
Each individual sphere is precision-machined and ground to an accuracy of a tenth of a millimetre This exceptional accuracy is the basis for the unique ease of movement of the patented floating sphere fountains from Kusser. Just a light touch of the hand, even a child’s hand, is enough to set the sphere playfully moving without any effort.
